Former Premier League Assistant Coming To Town...

On Thursday 16th February 2012 Former Premier League Assistant and present level 3 and 2B coach Barry Sygmuta will be visiting our society. It is always good to welcome local colleagues who have a vast amount of experience to pass on to the group and thought provoking material to help referees / assessors present at all levels for their future games. Barry will be making the trip from North Riding and I hope we can provide a good attendance for what is sure to be a great night!

BARA and BAFC meet in Question Time

On Friday 17th February BARA will be represented in a "Question Time" style quiz being held at Heritage Park - home of Bishop Auckland Football Club. Terry Farley MBE will be the host and impartial arbitrator for the evening. He will be keeping the BARA team of Matthew Gatiss, Charlie Dixon, Richard Massey and Alan Breeze in order. Members are more than welcome to come along and support on the evening - kick off is 19:30!

Up And Coming Events / Dates For BARA In 2012

We have a number of prestigious dates coming up in the Olympic Year ahead. Firstly on 4th January, our secretary Terry Farley MBE will complete sixty years service as a Durham County referee.

At the first meeting of the new season - in August 2012, it will also mark our Secretaries 50th year within this position at our Society. These are both fantastic achievements and are fully appreciated by everyone within the branch.

The third achievement to be aware of is that our President George McKellar will be due to receive his four 50 year awards at the County RA dinner in 2012. Having moved from Scotland to Newton Aycliffe in 1962, initially George joined the Darlington RA before transferring to Bishop Auckland shortly afterwards. Quite aptly the dinner is to be hosted in Darlington in 2012.
